Modular core system for satellite-navigation based applications in the field of civil safety and transportation – focusing on dangerous goods transports.

In the last years, applications in the field of satellite navigation, route planning or tracking have established and solutions have been found.
- How can satellite based systems be used to increase road safety – especially with focus on dangerous goods transportation?
- How can action and rescue forces be supported in case of emergency?
- What are the capabilities of the European satellite system Galileo?
- What technical components are necessary to develop these applications?
The project task is to develop a modular core system, which will server as a standard building block for services in the areas of security, transport and logistics.
Practically, we have two application scenarios for testing.
First: the supervision and monitoring of dangerous goods.
Second: support of action force in case of emergency in the field of information and logistics.
According to the results of these tests the modular core system will be adapted and configure. Its efficiency (will be) tested at various demonstrations and show cases.
A further goal is to standardize and certify this core system to be ready for operation in the whole EU.
